New to AZ from NYC we thought to checkout the area synagogues. We didn’t expect much from a reform place but this place is definitely not a synagogue. Felt more like a community center for retired boomers who have nothing much going on and just sit and gossip. The Rabbi is not knowledgeable in Jewish culture, she doesn't even speak Hebrew, no one here does, would you listen to an economics teacher that can’t do basic math…? Definitely do not recommend. There are much nicer places. Explore other options.

Enjoyed hearing a special speaker, Alan Morinis, author of Everyday Holiness and other titles including The Shabbat Effect at Temple Chai. I came as a guest to hear him speak and found it to be a welcoming community.

The last time they were at the traditional location was the Saturday before Scottsdale Christian Academy asked to tear down this temple to make way for a track...where they not only figuratively run over Jewish history in this area, but their students can literally do it too. This is what ESA Funds are being used for...

Nice place to meet new friends in faith. It's definitely not traditional, It looks more like a church than a synagogue. There are two rabbis, Both female. Both female, which is very untraditional and progressive. Friday night service is a lot of singing and a short sermon, which was great. No children on friday night and most of the people, there are senior citizens. I would definitely go back..

Temple Chai has been by far, the best synagogue for my family and I. Whether it was back decades ago, when our children were young and attended religious school there, to the present, when we now attend Kabbalat Shabbat services. The clergy and staff are wonderful. And the Temple Chai Shalom Center, is pretty unique, highly regarded nationwide for the wide range of services and support it provides to our Jewish Community and others as well.
2022 Update: this continues to be true especially since the arrival of our new senior Rabbi Emily Segal!
